In the last blog, we first presented the innovative solution of the SmartOstomyShield , also known as SOS, in a 3-in-1 design for urgent SOS help to the broad community of ostomates, which in a tested adaptation with the Coloplast SenSura Mio ostomy pouch significantly improves the quality of everyday life of the ostomate, as follows: 

SOS - Protects the stoma from injury like other common ostomy devices 

SOS - Forms the front side of the ostomy pouch into a concave shape, which significantly improves the distribution conditions inside the ostomy pouch - as the first ostomy shield in the world, 

SOS - Under normal conditions, it completely eliminates the unpleasant inflation of the ostomy pouch with gases and deodorizes their odor or even odorizes them with an available fragrance. 

SOS - the SmartOstomyShield  is the first ostomy shield to be magnetically attached to the ostomy pouch without the need for specially shaped Velcro fasteners, and can be removed from the ostomy pouch in seconds, while the pouch terminal is magnetically closed with the appropriate part and the ostomy pouch can continue to be used.

An invitation

We invite manually skilled colostomists who use two-piece SenSura Mio ostomy pouches with a 50mm flange from Coloplast to participate in a free trial of the SOS - SmartOstomyShield. All interested parties will be sent written information about the process and objectives of the  trial after registering on the website. Selected participants will receive our SOS - SmartOstomyShield prototype and instructions for use and self-adjustment of the SenSura Mio ostomy pouch free of charge.
